How are you different from other candidates?
Apart from my fantastic communication skills and reliability, I am always willing to learn new things and improve myself. When studying in university, I often read papers on my own time to deepen my knowledge of the material being taught. This not only helped me understand the material much more quickly, but I have also done significantly better on exams and had numerous professors notice and compliment me on numerous occasions. One professor in particular had told me that I would be a great graduate student.
I feel as if I have fantastic communication skills. I once took a course at university which used “Piazza”, which is an online forum, to communicate with other students and professors. This platform allows students to ask questions and allow other students and professors to respond and clarify these confusions. This platform allows students to be anonymous to other students and, if the professor is willing to allow this option, students can also be completely anonymous (to everyone, including the teaching team). When taking the course, I was quite active on this platform and had often answered these questions anonymously. The professor eventually identified me and, due to being very happy with my work, offered me a teaching assistant position on the spot.
