In the past, most people used to travel to their place of work. With the increased use of computers, the internet and smart phones, more and more people are starting to work from home.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of this development?
Over the years, many things have changed with how people go to work. Although this is not how all people work, many individuals have the opportunity to work from home.
There are several benefits. One advantage of working from home is that it saves a lot of time travelling. Many people agree that travelling to work can be quite draining, and because of this, it may show a decline in the effort of one’s work. Many employees would likely rather work from home, as it saves time and is overall better to avoid burnout. It is also better for workers financially, as they will not have to spend money on things such as gas or bus passes. At least working from home, they do not have to worry about those sorts of things, and neither do they have to rely on purchasing food outside. Employees can always rely on home-cooked meals or leftovers from the previous day.
Working from home can, unfortunately, have its disadvantages. One of the drawbacks is that it can cause communication issues for co-workers trying to discuss things for work. Everyone has the equipment to talk to their employees via video chat, but many people would likely agree that talking to a co-worker in person is much better for understanding communication, and will run into fewer problems such as technical errors. Being away from co-workers can also cause issues due to lack of teamwork. Companies need to rely on everyone having good teamwork and communication, as that will get tasks done more frequently.
In conclusion, there are lists of advantages and disadvantages, so it is hard to say which one is considered better, as it depends on the person.
